Practical Snow Tips

Hire gear on-mountain
Rental shops at resort base are convenient and competitively priced. No need to haul boots on the plane.
Buy lift passes online
Advance online passes are consistently cheaper than gate prices. Book before you leave home.
Take the ski bus
Coronet Peak and The Remarkables both run daily shuttles from central Queenstown. Cheaper and stress-free.
Check road conditions
Mountain roads can close with heavy snowfall. Check NZTA before driving to Cardrona or Treble Cone.
Pack sunscreen
UV is intense at altitude, especially on snow. Most people forget — and regret it.
Book early for peak weeks
School holidays (July) get busy fast. Book transfers, lessons, and packages at least 2–3 weeks ahead.
Layer up
Conditions change quickly. A good base layer + mid layer + waterproof shell is the formula.
