Privacy Policy

A clear summary of how we handle your data.

Last updated: 15 May 2026

Overview

Queenstown Tourism is operated by Deane Crabb in New Zealand. We collect only what we need to run the site, understand which content travellers find useful, and (with your permission) show you relevant updates. We do not sell your personal data and we never share it with anyone outside our small list of named processors below.

Cookies and tracking

We split cookies into three groups. You can change your choice any time using the button below or in the page footer.

CategoryWhat it doesCookies setOpt-in?
EssentialKeeps the site working — remembers your cookie choice, holds your newsletter subscription confirmation. Cannot be turned off.qt_consent_v1Always on

Information we collect

  • Anonymous page views (when you opt in to analytics) — which pages you visited, the page that referred you, screen size, country (from your IP, not stored), UTM tags if you arrived from an ad.
  • Consent record — your accept/reject choice and when you made it, alongside a one-way hash of your IP+browser so we can prove consent later if ever asked. We never store your raw IP address.
  • Email address if you subscribe to a newsletter or fill in a contact/room/ride form.
  • Booking redirects — if you click through to Viator we add our affiliate ID to the link. Viator's own privacy policy applies to anything that happens on viator.com.

How we use it

  • To improve which stories, tours and itineraries we feature.
  • To send you our weekly newsletter only if you've subscribed.
  • To respond to messages you send us via room/ride/contact forms.
  • To prove (if ever audited) that you gave us consent for cookies.

Who we share with

We use the following third-party processors. Each is bound by their own privacy policy:

  • Google Analytics 4 — anonymised page analytics (loaded only after you opt in)
  • Supabase — our database (consent log, first-party analytics, newsletter list)
  • Resend — sends transactional + newsletter emails
  • Netlify — hosts the site
  • Viator — actual tour bookings happen on their site, not ours

We don't sell your data. We don't share it for advertising outside the processors above.

Your rights

  • Withdraw consent — click any time.
  • Unsubscribe — every newsletter has a one-click link.
  • Access / delete your data — email us at hello@queenstowntourism.com with what you'd like. We respond within 30 days (NZ Privacy Act requirement; GDPR/UK GDPR also satisfied).
