A 2–3 hour return walk to the Basket of Dreams sculpture. Views over the lake, the Remarkables, and the town. Go at sunrise for the best light and fewest people.
Lakefront sunset (free)
Grab a bottle of Central Otago pinot noir, two glasses, and sit on the lakefront grass. The sun sets behind the mountains around 5:30pm in winter, 9pm in summer.
Fergburger (cheap)
The famous Fergburger queue looks long but moves fast. Take your burgers to the lakefront and eat with a view. $14 for a proper meal with a world-class backdrop.
