Two things to know. First, schedules are seasonal, and direct capacity is limited because the runway sits hemmed between mountains and Lake Wakatipu, so in shoulder months you may connect through Auckland or Christchurch instead; the connection adds a domestic hop but opens far more departure times. Second, in ski season the direct flights are in heavy demand, so book flights early for July and August.
