From theatre to an early film role
Baryshnikov began performing in childhood theatre and studied at Northwestern. In a 2016 Interview magazine conversation, she looked back at those beginnings and early television work in Doll & Em.
Manchester by the Sea gave her the role of Sandy, a young singer who gets to know Lucas Hedges's character. The interview was conducted around that stage of her career, rather than as a retrospective account of everything that followed.
