Local developer Mt Iron Junction Ltd — led by Steve Schikker and Peter Greene — has applied for fast-track consent for the project on a 6-hectare site at the corner of SH6 and SH84. What's on offer? Beyond the homes, the development will feature a childcare centre, shared community spaces, and 175 additional car parks — a nod to Wānaka's growing need for infrastructure.

Affordable housing is a core focus. In a significant move, 13 sections are being gifted to the Queenstown Lakes Community Housing Trust. QLCHT CEO Julie Scott praised the design, calling them "smaller, smarter, simpler dwellings for singles, couples and smaller families."
